Oops, forgot to update for a while

Eegads. Lotsa shit has happened since Anime USA, and I didn't even do a convention report at all. Meh, sue me. So here goes.

The con was fantastic. Every day was busy and full of fun magical lovely activities. Like making food runs for the staff and complete strangers. Ha ha. My mah jongg panel was good. I didn't really care for the setup -- they just had folding tables set up in a big open space in the hall, and anyone could come up and use them. But it was good anyway. . . about a dozen people showed up to learn to play, and I like to think I did an OK job of teaching them. There was a group of 3 people that absolutely loved it. We ended up playing for about 4 hours that evening. And it was great seeing Lisa and Joe and Lisa. . . once a year is not enough! OOooo, Patti and Anna and Stacey had some fantastic costumes. I gave off a HOLY SHIT! when I saw Patti's Sailor Pluto costume, that was bigger than the original Nova Flame Holy Shit. Quite nice. Oh, and my dearest friends (C, J, and L) bought me a huge metal Lum that was in the artists alley. Friends are ossum! There was a daiko concert by Nen Daiko. DAMN, I loves me some Daiko Drumming! The drive home was uneventful. Yeah, so I really like taking the exit for 83 south. Suck it, Chris.

Thanksgiving was very good. My brothers and my dad and I all ended up at my sister's house in VA, and it was a great time. We ate too much, and then watched the kids bounce around like pinballs. And I gotta get me an EyeToy for the PS2, that's too much fun. I did a good deed on the way home. Patti left her laundry bag at the hotel, and she was bummed because the bag had all her clothes and (gasp!) her costumes in it. She had decided that she would never see it again. My sister's place is only a few miles from the hotel, so I stopped there on my way home and asked about it. It took them 40 minutes to find it, but they did find it. The look on Patti's face when she saw it made it all worth it. Gee, I'm such a nice guy.

My little Joe is so grown up! Har har. Really, though, his latest blog is all about spending his first winter away from home. I've always been near at least some family members my whole life (yeah, we're strange like that, we're a family that likes to be together), and he has just gone from constant contact with his family to no contact at all, so I'm sure it's a big adjustment. Good or bad is his issue, but still an adjustment. And the pictures he posted are taken with the loverly new digital camera he purchased last weekend. I hate to admit that I have camera envy. . . so I won't. Ha ha. But he got one hell of a good deal on it. I'm the one that told him about the sale, so I guess I get some credit. I'd like that on a gift certificate, Pat.

Qihuai called my cell phone three times today. She just wanted to hear my voice. That's sweet and all, but unfortunately, she called when I was driving to work. Not only do I try not to drive while talking, she happened to call when I was in a dead reception spot. Sorry, Huai!

Hrm, I was going over my finances, and it looks like I won't be able to be the usual generous person I usually am. I guess I will be the Post-Santa, the guy who finds out what you wanted for Giftmas and didn't get, and then hand it to you in January. I also try to do nice things all year, so I'm not really pressured to make some big production for Christmas. I place infinitely more value on just being with friends and loved ones, than on commercial activity. That goes both ways, people -- don't buy me anything! I have enough as it is.

Speaking of having things -- I have waaaaay too much entertainment right now. I'm still hitting all 4 of my current games, plus a few rounds of Hotshots Golf in there. And there's 6 games coming up in the first quarter of 2006 that I want. . . Wild Arms 4, Okami, Grandia 3, Drakengard 2, Kingdom Hearts 2, and Tomb Raider Legend. Shit, I won't even be done with SLAI by then!!! I'll have to quit my job, or give up sleeping. . .

I also have to decide which book to read next. I'm almost done with the Dune books (they rock!), and I have lots of choices. . . there's Southern Fire, and two or three Year's Best SF collections, and Dies The Fire looks good, and the last five Amber novels. . . I have an entire stack of books to read. Enough for the coming year. By the way, all of youse that like science fiction should go to www.sfbc.com , that's the Science Fiction Book Club, and check it out. They have really good prices, and outstanding service, and they are based right here in Camp Hill. OK, shameless plug done.

I plan on shooting every chance I get next year. I am excited about both of my rifles, and my brothers both have their 45s to use, and I get to reload for them, hee hee. I also want to start shooting some skeet. Things that go BOOM are cool.

K then, lunchtime is over, and my wrists hurt. So, that's enough for this time! Next time will be a photo dump from the last three months, as soon as I resize a bunch of photos. Not all of us can have a cool camera with a .3Meg mode designed for web and email pictures, now, can we?

Catch y'all later.
